The Safety of Your Data is Our Priority

With the recent launch of the Revuto app, we felt compelled to reassert a sacred commitment we’ve made to protect the data of every single user.

Unfortunately, data leaks and cyberattacks are frighteningly common in today’s world. Almost every week, it seems, another company falls prey to hackers, with the names, addresses, emails, phone numbers, and even bank details of customers leaked onto the web.

The Revuto team is acutely aware of the distress caused by such events. Which is why, when the concept of a crypto-powered subscription management solution was still a twinkle in our eye, we decided to team up with experts in the field. To connect with data specialists and ensure superior safeguarding for our future community members.

Introducing Sumsub, Specialists in Data Protection

Instead of rushing to Google, searching for ‘data protection specialist’ and selecting the first result, we researched the topic meticulously over a period of several weeks. We collated feedback, made phone calls, discussed the pros and cons of various data protection systems, and finally narrowed down our options until just one name remained: Sumsub.

Sumsub is an AI-based solution that automates identity verification and provides bank-grade KYC and AML services for clients around the world. Based in London, the company has a wealth of experience in compliance and an impeccable reputation for robust yet speedy checks, ensuring frictionless onboarding and complete data integrity.

Sumsub uses highly advanced technologies to ensure compliance with KYC requirements — something that has always been a part of the Revuto roadmap. This fact seems to have been overlooked by some, as we’ve received a few queries from people professing surprise about KYC implementation.

While this isn’t a blog about the merits or demerits of KYC, we want to be clear that this isn’t something we’ve sprung on unsuspecting users at a late stage! On the contrary, the forthcoming virtual debit cards — which will link to our crypto-fiat app — have always required KYC. Of course, we want to make that KYC as painless as possible; which is another reason we hooked up with Sumsub.

Experts in customer onboarding, document verification, fraud prevention, and AML screening, Sumsub’s approach has been tailored according to Financial Action Task Force (FATF) edicts regarding Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF), and they are no strangers to crypto having worked with several leading digital asset exchanges and blockchain startups.

The tech platform features sophisticated tools that facilitate entirely automatic verification, as well as checks based on human review that satisfy European legislation on non-face-to-face customer identification in banking. Moreover, the company’s comprehensive GDPR compliance program is one of the best in the industry.

Here are just a few examples of what Sumsub has to offer:

- Customer consent (Requests appear in a separate checkbox prior to verification, so users clearly understand what they’re agreeing to.)

- A clear and transparent privacy policy

- European data centers and dedicated data protection officer

- The right to revoke consent

- Breach alerts

Security Patrols and Encrypted Channels

Curious readers might wonder exactly what steps Sumsub — and by extension Revuto — takes to store and safeguard their personal data. Those readers will be glad to know that their valuable information is preserved in an encrypted format on Sumsub servers, which are kept at Uptime Institute classified Tier III data centers compliant with TIA-942 and PCI DSS standards.

As well as being fortified from a technological perspective, these vast data centers are patrolled physically around the clock by specially audited security personnel.

While you’re breathing a sigh of relief, we should also mention that user data is transferred via a protected channel with cryptographic encryption based on the TLS 1.2 protocol. Moreover, decryption keys are stored separately to the actual data — adding an additional layer of complexity for those who might attempt some malfeasance. All bases, in other words, are covered.

Our decision to hire Sumsub was a key milestone in our roadmap. Thanks to this fruitful partnership, all valuable user data is stored securely with absolutely nothing sitting on Revuto servers or accessible to any of our team members. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.
